Mumbai: Caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, recently fell ill during a visit to his hometown of Satara, triggering speculation amid the ongoing uncertainty over the state’s next Chief Minister.

Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde on Tuesday stepped down as Maharashtra Chief Minister, even as the suspense over who will succeed him as the new CM continued, three days after state assembly election results were announced.

According to his family doctor, Dr RM Patre, Shinde has been suffering from a fever, cold, and throat infection for the past two days. He has been administered antibiotics and saline and is expected to recover within a day or two.
