Those who want to update their Aadhaar details without spending money, now have got more time. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has once again extended the deadline for free updates till 14 December 2024.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) offers several services to Aadhaar holders. However, the process of changing your name on the Aadhaar card has now become more complicated than it was previously.

This is the second time that the UIDAI has extended the deadline for the service, which is available through the official 'My Aadhaar' portal. However, the free Aadhaar update service was to end on June 14,

Once all the online process and visitation is done, the UIDAI team will work on the updation. This process may require 90 days. Users can use URN to keep track or call UIDAI’s toll-free number 1947. Make sure to update the Aadhaar Card number to avoid any hassle during banking or any government process.

Aadhaar assigns a unique ID linked to biometrics, preventing duplication. Updating is optional but improves services and ensures accurate authentication.

According to the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, "An Aadhaar number holder may, on completion of every period of 10 years from the date of generation of the Aadhaar number assigned to him, update the documents or the information evidencing proof of identity and proof of address, at least once, by submitting an application."

The Unique Identification Authority of India has announced that any updates to Aadhaar cards made after the December 14 deadline will incur a fine of Rs 50. UIDAI has urged all affected Aadhaar holders to complete the revalidation process by submitting the necessary documents.
