Curt Cignetti was named Big Ten Coach of the Year after leading Indiana University's football team to a record season.

Cignetti took a team that won just three Big Ten games in the past three years and went 11-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference, tying for second with Penn State.

First-year Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti took home several honors on December 3 ahead of the Hoosiers' finding out their playoff fate. Indiana finished the regular season 11-1, its best year in school history.

Following an unbelievable, historic 11-1 regular season, the Indiana football team and its new head coach, Curt Cignetti, have started piling up the awards and accolades. Cignetti, unsurprisingly, won both awards for Big Ten Coach of the year,

The Big Ten announced its postseason awards on Tuesday as Cignetti took home the only individual honor for the Hoosiers.

This is Cignetti's first year coaching the Hoosiers. Their 11 wins this season mark the most in program history and the first double-digit wins in IU's history, IU athletics said.
