The Election Commission invited a Congress delegation to discuss its concerns about inconsistencies in Maharashtra Assembly poll data on December 3, 2024. The EC defended its processes as transparent and promised to review the Congress' concerns following an in-person hearing.

The Congress on November 29 raised with the EC ‘serious and grave inconsistencies’ which it said were being revealed in the data relating to the polling and counting processes for the recently-concluded Maharashtra Assembly polls.

The letter by the Congress alleged that there was an increase of around 47 lakh voters in the electoral rolls in Maharashtra during July-November and it favoured the ruling Mahayuti.

Noting its complaints, the Congress said that the exisiting safeguards of the EC have not been able to “curb such an electoral fraud from being committed”.
