DURBAN - ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula described the ANC's situation in KwaZulu-Natal as dire. The party crashed to a 17% share of the vote in KZN at the May elections. Mbalula says that this must be remedied.

The ANC has not ruled out disbanding the KwaZulu-Natal provincial executive committee over its poor performance at the polls.

ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said it would be foolhardy for the ANC not to take real stock in terms of the party's electoral losses and its impact on the state of organisation in the province.

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC's National Working Committee has summoned the entire KwaZulu-Natal PEC to a meeting in Gauteng. It follows the party's dismal election performance in the province. The party secured just 17 percent of the vote in the May 29th elections in the province.
